Kathern Welsh is an award-winning artist / writer and has exhibited in one-woman shows, galleries, art festivals, museums, and Art in Public Buildings programs. She has also sold some of her paintings and fashion dolls to several locations around the world, through the Internet. A move from Florida to the Eastern Shore of Virginia in April 2008, has brought her closer to her daughter and eight grandchildren, and provided a wealth of new inspiration, and additional sales especially of pets and portraits.
Prior to becoming disabled in 2002, Ms. Welsh worked as a graphic artist, illustrator, and writer. Since 2003, she has been devoting as much time as possible to painting and designing historical, and other elaborate costumes, for fashion dolls.
Her work covers a wide array of subjects, including portraits, pets, wild animals, florals, seascapes, and even abstracts. Her painting, Pelican Prince, was chosen to be on the T-Shirts for the 2006 Pelican Island Wildlife Festival in Sebastian, Florida. The prices on Kathern's paintings are lower than most because she believes everyone should be able to buy art and enjoy it. 'I want to share the gift God has given me, and the best way to do that is to keep my prices reasonable. Reasonable prices for understandable art! Feel free to make an offer!'
